About the Collection

Sparked by the profound social unrest and uncertainty that accompanied the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the plays in this collection challenge the political and creative status quo, spotlight injustice, provide a unique glimpse into the hearts and minds of a diverse community of artists of color, and inspire the reader to awaken their inner "ARTIVIST".

This collection of original plays challenges the reader to reflect on the potential of language and performance to reach deep into the hearts and minds of all members of society and shift centuries-old misconceptions and prejudices.  Readers will find plays for diverse actors that tackle micro-aggressions, the consequences of police violence, and give voice to both the pain and potential of artists of color.

Edited by Sergei Burbank (Literary Manager at Conch Shell Productions)  “We’re Not Neutral” featured playwrights include: Jevone Andy, Jovaun Black, Nyanda Cammock, Christin Eve Cato, Sean-Joseph Choo, Jason Ellis, Alvin Eng, Kimiye Everard, Onyekachi Iwu, Mateo Moreno, Ren Nansen, Phanesia Pharel, Kiki Rivera, Cynthia Robinson, Tylie R Shider, Eric Stack, and Karl O'Brian Williams.
