About Our Guest Artist:  

Alain Bidard (aka Alan Bidard) is an award-winning animation film producer/director from the French island of Martinique in the Caribbean. During the two past decades, he has produced and directed animated feature and short films, animated series, documentaries, and live-action films which won more than 200 awards and 400 nominations in festivals worldwide.  In 2015, Alain Bidard made history in releasing the first animated feature film ever made in Martinique — “Battledream Chronicle”, awarded by 24 awards and 70 nominations worldwide. Then in 2018, he created the first Caribbean animated TV series for which the pilot won 25 awards and 115 nominations worldwide.  In March 2022, Alan Bidard was invited by the Carnegie Hall for the Afrofuturism Festival in New York for a showcase of his works. In May 2022, Alan Bidard was chosen by Her Royal Majesty Queen Angelique Monet of Eti-Oni to receive the Best Animation Film Award in the Artisan Festival International World Peace Initiative AFI in Cannes.  As for now, Alain Bidard is the only Caribbean animation film director who won that many recognitions. Odley Jean was born, raised and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. Odley Jean made her television debut as Dominique Pierre, a leading role in the Netflix original series Grand Army (2020). IG @odley.jean YT  @odleyjean2378  

Nadhege Ptah's career took off with her portrayal of Lady in Brown in "For Colored Girls." She has since become an award-winning actor/filmmaker, expanding her skill set. Sagine Sémajuste is a multi-hyphenate first generation Haitian-Canadian actress, voice actress and dancer. Learn more about her creative journey, and her upcoming production of WELCOME TO CLOWN, an adult-friendly play that explores Tanya's exploits as a party clown in New York and Hollywood. 


WELCOME TO CLOWNTOWN was developed in the CSP Artist Collective 2022 writer's workshop, and first presented as a work-in-progress at our 2022 CSP New Works Series.

Anslem Richardson was our featured CSP Artist Chat guest on Feb 24th.

Anslem Richardson is an actor, writer, visual artist, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles.He’s a 2021 WGA Award Nominee for Amazon Prime series THE BOYS, a Writers Fellow at HBO Access, and a Screenwriting Fellow at Film Independent. His screenplay BARDOS earned him the Tribeca All Access Creative Promise Award in Screenwriting. Anslem also received the Independent Feature Project (IFP) Gordon Parks Award for Screenwriting for his screenplay THE SUBWAY STORY.


Anslem is currently a writer/producer on THE BOYS.

Our January 27, 2023 featured artist, Gretchen Suárez-Peña.


(Topics: Her journey from engineer to writer; the impact of her Puerto Rican heritage on her writing; advice to Caribbean and Caribbean diaspora professionals who are considering becoming artists.)


Gretchen is a Puerto Rican playwright who is an MFA candidate in the Dramatic Writing program at Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama (Class of 2024).  Her musical, Melina: A Steampunk Musical Tragedy was an official selection of the 2020 Atlanta Musical Theatre Festival. Other successes include winning the writer's grant and best play at the 2019 Be Original Festival for her play, Trafficked. Also, winning best full-length play at the 2018 Tampa Bay Theatre Festival for her show Conversations in the Car, and first prize for her short play, Dry Spell, at the 30 by Ninety Theatre’s 2018 Night of One Acts Competition. Gretchen's short play, The Arithmetic of Memory, was produced by Conch Shell Productions as part of Blue Light Series Fall 2020; and her play Moonwalker was featured in Reset Series 2021.  She is currently a member CSP Artist Collective. www.gretchensuarezpena.com  FB @playsbygretchen
