ART THAT AWAKENS
RESET THEATER COALITION
WHAT IS IT?
Conch Shell Productions, invited Braata Productions and Kumu Kahua Theater to form a theater alliance committed to presenting new works by American artists of AFRICAN, CARIBBEAN, NATIVE AMERICAN, LATIN AMERICAN, CENTRAL AMERICAN, ASIAN, EUROPEAN, MIDDLE EASTERN, Indian, and Polynesian descent - that will inspire a RESET in America.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our function as artists is to restore society’s sense of humanity.
Art is not a luxury to only enjoy when times are good, but a tool that guides human beings to thoughtfully redefine themselves.
This coalition is a response to racially motivated injustice and oppression in America.
The task of confronting systemic racially motivated oppression in the United States demands that artists answer with work that inspires rethinking of the dominant structures that are tearing our nation apart. Let’s come together and create art that inspires all to remember what it means to be.
Through completion of the finished work, it is our hope that collaborators will complete a journey from a place of rage to one of loving resistance and the creative destruction of the institutions that propagate lawful murder of Americans of a certain color.
Our cumulative effort will not seek to solve racism or end our grief for those lost; it will look to continue a productive conversation in this space and in this moment.
YOU ARE NOT NEUTRAL. YOU ARE EITHER MAKING THE WORLD BETTER OR WORSE.
YOU ARE MAKING A CHOICE. YOU HAVE TO ACTIVELY BE A FORCE FOR GOOD.
