Seeded by a generous gift from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, with additional funding from the Seth Sprague Foundation and A.R.T./New York, the A.R.T./New York Relief Fund for NYC Small Theatres was created in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and its impact on New York City-based small theatres.
Now, with the creation of the Leon Levy Foundation COVID Relief Fund, named to honor the Leon Levy Foundation’s vision and generosity, a 2021 round of accessible relief funding will be available to small theatres with annual budgets under $250k who are based in, or primarily produce in, New York City.
We are proud to announce that Conch Shell Productions is one of the recipients of the 2021 NYSCA-A.R.T./New York Creative Opportunity Fund! We were among the 46 recipients chosen in the fifth year of this Statewide Theatre Regrant Program which provides small theatres throughout NYS with funding to support our work.
Producing Artistic Director Magaly Colimon-Christopher is a recipient of the $5,000 City Artist Corps grant for NYC-based working artists disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The program is presented by The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) and Queens Theatre.
Magaly is recognized for AFTERSHOCKS: A Tetralogy of Our Times. She is one of 500 New York City-based grant recipients this year.
City Artist Corps Grants were launched in June 2021 by NYFA and DCLA with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and the Queens Theatre. The program is funded by the $25 million New York City Artist Corps recovery initiative announced by Mayor de Blasio and DCLA earlier this year. Please visit NYFA’s web site for more details.
We would to thank all of our past donors for their generous support. We understand that during these challenging times every dollar counts. Every generous gift given to support Conch Shell Productions is used to develop, present, and/or produce under represented writers of the Caribbean diaspora. With your support - we can create a space for theater that inspires CHANGE.
It takes the financial support of a donor community to produce new plays. We need the continued generous support of individual donors LIKE YOU to continue developing and producing of innovative new plays written by Caribbean-Americans.
